Statement of Intent

 I am currently striving to create a music magazine front cover and double page spread that reflects the genre of hip-hop and pop which is aimed at the higher end of the target age so around the ages of 16-18. My magazine is called hip-pop which reflects both genres quite obviously. My dominant image has my model looking toward her left as in reference to connotations, looking to your right is seen as looking back at the past and therefore my model is looking toward the future. The reference to the future has also been made directly under the model name where I have stated 'Moriah and the upcoming future' as it links to my dou ble page spread as it is about the experiences and the future of her. As I do not want my front cover to look too crowded, I am not going to include any other images as it disables a hinted chance of it looking unprofessional. Audience Research 1 and Analysis

For one of my audience research, I have created a survey on survey monkey. This consisted of 8 questions with a total of 50 respondents. My questions were: 1)What is your age? Options provided 2)What is your gender? Options Provided 3)What type of music do you like? Options provided including 'other' 4) What magazines would you read? Options provided 5)What do you want to see in a music magazine front cover? Comment box provided 6) How likely is it that you would read a music magazine? Research rationale

I have been assigned to produce a music magazine with a  target audience  of 14-18 which has to include a front cover and double page spread. As I am currently in secondary school, I have a lot of access for teenagers in this particular age range. For my qualitative research, I am going to hold a focus group which will include around 4 people who I will ask various questions about magazine preferences which will support my magazine choices as I will be more aware with the likes and dislikes of my audience and my magazine would not be biased. I will be doing 2 of these ; one with a younger audience such as 14- 15 and one group with maybe 17-18 year olds. I' m glad that we have been told to use older teenagers for my research as I will be able to understand the style they prefer as I am almost 16.
